Research indicates that owning a pet provides
• crucial companionship
• increases mental health
• promotes physical activity
However, there are instances when seniors are no longer able to provide the physical activity a pet requires.
The Heart of Ida is there to help, offering dog walking services to low-to moderate income seniors in the hospital, with limited mobility, or at risk of falling, enabling seniors to keep their beloved pets as long as they are able to live at home.
