This minor home safety repair program is a one-of-a-kind in Long Beach. It is the first fall-prevention program that Heart of Ida established in the community in 2009.

Heart of Ida staff & volunteers visit the homes of low- to moderate-income older adults to:
• perform multi-point environmental safety checks
• assess unsafe conditions
• make minor repairs
• Unsafe situations addressed include: adequate lighting (light bulbs or fixtures), emergency lighting (flashlights), night lights for bedrooms and hallways (exiting), functioning smoke/carbon monoxide detectors, installation of grab bars or handrails, non-slip shower/bath mats, hand held shower heads, and fans/ventilation. (No ramp installation.)
